Tooth Colored Fillings

At our office we almost exclusively do tooth colored fillings.

Although silver fillings (amalgam fillings) are incredibly safe and durable (see this technical information from the American Dental Association), most patients now prefer to do tooth colored fillings. The cost for tooth colored fillings and silver fillings is the same.

Occasionally, if a cavity is far under the gums, or in a very difficult to reach spot, we will do a silver filling on that tooth (because silver fillings have a better long-term outcome in these situations). We will always talk to you about it before we do a silver filling.
